Newcastle United is set to send a scout to monitor Boca Juniors midfielder Kevin Zenón in the Superclasico match against River Plate this weekend.
According to journalist Martín Costa, Newcastle has expressed interest in the 22-year-old to Saca del Medio on Radio Continental.
Zenón only joined Boca Juniors from CA Union in Argentina for €3.2 million in the January transfer window, but he has rapidly gained fans at the club, with one goal and one assist in six games so far.
He could be one of the next players to depart the club, with Europe keeping a close eye on Boca right now as they continue to generate talent and sell it for a large profit.
Newcastle United has apparently shown interest in the Premier League.
According to Costa, the Magpies are determined to sign young talent for the future as part of their project, and as a result, they will likely send a scout to witness him live in action this weekend.
“On the weekend at the Monumental there will be people from Newcastle who are going to go watch Zenón,” he went on to says.
“The interest is there; they will see him, and if he can persuade them, we will see what happens by the middle of the year. The clause is $15 million.
