Charlton Athletic will try to break a 15-game league winless streak when they host Portsmouth at The Valley on Sunday.
Meanwhile, League One leaders Portsmouth will look to build on their recent success, having won each of their past four games.
Nathan Jones has been unable to halt Charlton’s winless streak in his first three games, resulting in one defeat and two draws.
After losing to Reading to start his tenure, the Addicks drew their next two games against Lincoln City and Bolton Wanderers.
Charlton led 2-1 and 3-2 against Bolton thanks to goals from Thierry Small, Lloyd Jones, and Daniel Kanu, but Jon Dadi Bodvarsson’s 71st-minute equaliser denied them their first win since November.
After 15 league games without a win, the Addicks are in 20th place in League One, with only one point separating them from the relegation zone.
Charlton, on the other hand, can be confident because they have not lost in their past five meetings with Portsmouth, and they also won 3-0 at home in October 2022.
Portsmouth kept their six-point advantage at the top of the league with a dominating 4-1 home win over Reading last weekend.
Paddy Lane, Marlon Pack, Callum Lang, and Colby Bishop all scored, before Charlie Savage added a late consolation.
Pompey have dropped only two points in their previous seven games, and they will have the chance to win for the fifth time in a row when they face Charlton on Saturday.
They also hope to defeat the Addicks for the first time since a 3-1 victory in an away game in February 2021.
Portsmouth have proven to be a tenacious team on the road, winning 1-0 in three of their past four away games, including their most recent meeting against Carlisle United.
Charlton will be without Michael Hector, Kayne Ramsay, and Miles Leaburn due to hamstring injuries.
Tyreeq Bakinson, a Sheffield Wednesday loanee, might return to the side after missing the 3-3 draw with Bolton due to illness.
Small is expected to remain in the starting lineup after scoring on his Charlton debut last weekend.
The visitors’ extensive absentee list includes the defence three of Zach Swanson, Tom McIntyre, and Regan Poole.
Portsmouth are also set to be missing Joe Morrell, Terry Devlin, Ben Stevenson, Alex Robertson, Tom Lowery, and Tino Anjorin due to injuries.
In other positive news, Myles Peart-Harris is scheduled to return to the matchday squad after missing the win over Reading due to an injury.
Charlton Athletic’s likely starting lineup: Isted; Edmonds-Green, Jones, Thomas; T. Watson, Dobson, Coventry, Bakinson, Small; Kanu, Ladapo.
Portsmouth’s likely starting lineup: Norris; Rafferty, Shaughnessy, Raggett, Ogilvie; Moxon, Pack; Kamara, Lang, Lane; Bishop.
