According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United are interested in Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis following his successful season in the Championship.
According to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, Newcastle and West Ham are both ‘keeping eyes’ on his form after he played a key role in Ipswich’s surprising promotion this season.
The 24-year-old was born in Newcastle and began his junior career at Wallsend Boys Club before going on to Morecambe and Leeds, who sold him to Ipswich for £1.2 million three years ago.
Davis is 6 feet tall and has 14 assists in 31 Championship appearances this season, which matches his tally from the 2022/23 season in League One.
Whether Davis is targeted or not, it will be intriguing to watch how we fare at left-back this summer. Dan Burn has had a difficult season and has frequently been targeted down that side, Matt Targett is expected to leave after falling down the pecking order, and Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall – who will sign permanently at the end of the season – has been rarely used by Howe, who does not appear to trust the 19-year-old at the moment.
