JUST IN: 84-goal midfielder Coming To Newcastle United Soon

Bruno Guimaraes believes the Brazilian midfielder would “fit” with Newcastle United.

Bruno Guimaraes has identified Palmeiras midfielder Raphael Veiga as a player who would “fit” at Newcastle United.

Veiga is Guimaraes’ former teammate at Athletico Paranaense, when the two won the Copa Sudamericana in 2018. Veiga scored 10 goals in 48 games while on loan before returning to Palmeiras.

The 28-year-old has 84 goals and 34 assists in 261 Palmeiras games. He has previously been connected with Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Guimaraes feels the Brazilian can succeed in the Premier League.

“He is one of the names that would fit here,” Guimaraes explained to ESPN Brasil. “He takes corners well, shoots from a distance, and has an excellent set piece. In 2018, we were together at Athletico-PR. I feel he can have a bright future if he comes to Europe.”

Veiga has six Brazil caps and recently spoke with Spanish newspaper AS about the possibility of moving to Europe from South America.

“I admire many European teams. There are numerous football clubs to choose from, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, City, Arsenal, and Manchester United. “There are impressive teams, and each has something unique and interesting,” remarked Veiga.

“I adore Kevin de Bruyne. He plays the same position as me, therefore I pay a lot of attention to him. He is my favourite player and the one I most enjoy following.

Guimaraes has already recommended a fellow Brazilian to Newcastle. The 26-year-old said that Lucas Paqueta was his “dream” acquisition before joining West Ham United for £51 million in 2022.

“It would be my dream (to sign Paqueta),” Guimaraes told ESPN. “Paqueta is my best friend.”

“We developed a bond not only on the pitch, but also outside. Our wives are also together. It was a brotherly bond, and we still speak every day. It would be fantastic if he could come here, but I am unable to undertake this work.
