Newcastle United 33-Year Old Star Is Finally Back Ahead Of Monday Clash

Kieran Trippier was pulled off during Newcastle United’s 3-0 victory over Wolves at the weekend.

Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is hoping to be healthy for the trip to Chelsea next week after revealing that his calf is ‘feeling okay’ despite the injury scare. The defender is doubtful for the game after limping off against Wolves.

He reveals that he has discussed his fitness with the management, but will wait until the game to determine if he is ready to play. He spoke on Sunday after receiving his FWA North East Footballer of the Year award.

“I just felt something in my calf and don’t want to take any chances or anything. I had a decent conversation with the management, but I will not know anything until [Monday].

“My calf is feeling good but you know scan results can say anything, but most importantly I’m feeling positive.”

Trippier Newcastle transfer decision defended

The England defender is one of Newcastle United’s captains, yet he was at fault when Chelsea defeated them in the League Cup on their last visit to Stamford Bridge, throwing away the ball that Mykhailo Mudryk scored to force penalty kicks.

He was also one of the players who missed a penalty attempt, allowing Chelsea to advance while United crashed out. Chelsea will be looking for a win after only managing a point against Brentford the previous Saturday.

There is increasing pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino to at least guarantee European football for next season. They finished 12th in the league last season and have remained in 11th place for the whole of this season.
