AC Milan 24-Year-Old Star Set To Return Given Pioli New Option To Play With

AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega may return from his long-term injury absence sooner than thought, giving Stefano Pioli another option to play with.

According to Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), the Italian midfielder is progressing considerably faster than the medical experts thought, and he could return to the club shortly.

Milan’s biggest injury crisis is already resolved, with players like Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw, and Fikayo Tomori returning to the first team, but Pobega’s return would provide Pioli with another midfield option, which might be significant with more Europa League games on the horizon.

Pobega underwent an operation in Finland in December 2023 and was anticipated to be out until the end of April, but he could return to training by the end of March’s international break. That would imply being available, assuming the rest of the recuperation goes smoothly, a month earlier than Pioli had anticipated.

While Pobega was never projected to be a regular starter in Milan’s midfield this season, he is an excellent rotation option and could have played centre-back earlier in the season if healthy.
