Inter Milan and AC Milan are still deciding between purchasing the San Siro and building new stadiums outside of Milan.
This is according to today’s print edition of the Rome-based publication Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They claim that the clubs were irritated by a recent statement from the city of Milan that downplayed the possibility of new stadiums.
The next few weeks will undoubtedly be decisive in terms of Inter and Milan’s stadium situation.
Last month, the clubs received proposals from architectural firm WeBuild to restore the San Siro.
Milan Mayor Beppe Sala expects that the proposed upgrades would meet the legendary club’s financial needs and persuade them to stay there.
However, Inter and Milan have been developing alternate strategies in the background.
The Nerazzurri are exploring the possibility of building a stadium in Rozzano, and they are laying the groundwork for a feasibility study.
Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have already purchased land for a proposed new stadium in San Donato.
Inter & AC Milan Still Deciding Between San Siro & New Stadium
They think that by proposing modifications and offering to sell the stadium, they may persuade Inter and Milan to abandon their plans to build new stadiums and stay at the San Siro instead.
However, according to the Corriere, the clubs were dissatisfied with the municipality’s recent statement, which appeared to present a picture of no other options for constructing.
Inter and Milan have both carefully researched the potential of constructing new stadiums overseas.
As a result, both teams are considering these options.
