Pierre Kalulu’s future is at stake, with Juventus and AC Milan on the verge of finalising a deal for the French defender. The transfer negotiations have surprisingly quickened, and today is expected to be key in the move. The two clubs have informally agreed on a loan deal of €3.5 million, with a 14 million euro buyout clause, plus an additional 3 million in bonuses and 10% of any future sales.
Calciomercato reports that Juventus is presently finalising the contract details, with Kalulu expected to sign for the upcoming season and maybe prolong his stay if specific performance criteria are reached. According to the source, Juventus will only confirm the deal if Kalulu plays at least 60% of the official matches. Thiago Motta, the club’s coach, has authorised Kalulu’s signing, citing his tactical versatility as a central defender and right-back.
Kalulu did not take part in the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi match against Monza, suggesting his impending exit. Despite travelling with the club to San Siro, he was not one of the available players. Atalanta and other international teams have showed interest in Kalulu, but his future at Milan was unknown due to new arrivals and changes in the team’s hierarchy under coach Paulo Fonseca.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic alluded to Kalulu’s likely departure while announcing new signing Emerson Royal, emphasising the importance of determining what is best for both the player and the club. This development comes as Milan continues to reshape its roster for the 2017 season.
