Derby County vs. Charlton Athletic – prediction, team news, lineups

Derby County will face Charlton Athletic at home on Tuesday, looking to re-establish their League One promotion campaign after losing to Barnsley over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Addicks will be hoping to snap their 16-game league losing streak as they fight to keep their third-tier position.

Derby’s chances of finishing in the top two were hampered by an away loss to fellow promotion contenders Barnsley on Saturday.

Sonny Bradley gave the Rams the lead in the 18th minute, but they were eventually defeated after Barnsley midfielder Adam Phillips scored twice.

Fortunately for Paul Warne’s team, third-placed Bolton Wanderers also lost at the weekend, allowing them to maintain second place thanks to their goal difference.

After a disappointing trip to Oakwell, Derby will be eager to return to Pride Park, where they have won three of their past four home games (D1).

The Rams have already had success against Charlton this month, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at The Valley on February 3.

Charlton manager Nathan Jones has overseen three successive draws since starting his career with a close defeat to Reading.

The Addicks drew with Lincoln City and Bolton Wanderers before drawing 0-0 with league leaders Portsmouth on Saturday.

Although Charlton would have been satisfied with a point against the league leaders, the Addicks are currently winless in 16 league games since defeating Cheltenham Town at the end of November.

Charlton are currently in 20th place, one point above the bottom four, as a result of their lengthy winless streak.

The Addicks, who have lost their last 11 away matches, are searching for their first win over Derby since February 1999, when they won 2-0.
