Despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, manager Vincent Kompany is allegedly trusted by the club’s hierarchy.
On Saturday afternoon, the Lancashire club extended their winless streak in all competitions to nine matches by losing 3-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
After Burnley captain Josh Brownhill was sent off in the first half, Oliver Glasner’s Eagles appeared to be heading for victory, with Chris Richards, Jordan Ayew, and Jean-Philippe Mateta all finding the back of James Trafford’s net in the second period.
The defeat in the capital places the Clarets 19th in the Premier League rankings, with only 13 points from 26 top-flight games, 11 points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.
According to The Athletic, Burnley has no plans to fire manager Kompany after a difficult first season back in the Premier League.
According to the report, the Manchester City icon will continue to enjoy support from the Clarets management as the season draws to a close.
However, parts of the club’s fanbase expressed their displeasure with the 37-year-old following the weekend’s setback at Palace.
Following his first managerial appointment with Belgian Pro League team Anderlecht, Kompany joined Burnley in the summer of 2022 and led the club to the Championship title in his first season in charge.
With 101 points and only three losses in 46 second-tier games, the 37-year-old was able to return the Clarets to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Kompany, unwilling to abandon a playing style that served his club well in the Championship, has had little success in his first season as an English top-flight manager.
The four-time Premier League winner is more accustomed to title challenges under Pep Guardiola than scrapping at the bottom of the league, but the Belgian has frequently claimed that the two circumstances are quite similar.
The Clarets entered the loan market during the January window to improve their chances of escaping relegation, with David Datro Fofana, Maxime Esteve, and Lorenz Assignon all signing on temporary contracts.
Following three consecutive Premier League losses, Kompany will be keen for his team to rebound when they face Bournemouth at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
