Real Madrid appear to have sealed their first sale of the season, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that AC Milan has agreed to keep Alex Jimenez’s services on a permanent basis.
The final transfer cost is expected to be less than €5 million, as agreed upon when Jimenez first arrived to Milan on loan.
Madrid has not completely let go of Jimenez, who is seen as a high-potential talent. They incorporated a buy-back clause in his contract.
Although the actual figures have not been revealed, the journalist alleges they are more than the agreed-upon €5 million. Milan even attempted to renegotiate the terms of the ultimate purchase clause, but it appears Madrid refused to bend.
Milan tenure so far
The Spanish adolescent moved to Milan on loan from Real Madrid Castilla at the start of the 2023/24 season.
The Serie A giants were desperate for full-back reinforcements and saw Jimenez as a long-term project who could play for both the senior and U19 teams.
Jimenez has been called up to the senior team several times and has played five games, including nearly 15 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Napoli.
Unfortunately, he also started for the Milan team that fell 1-2 to Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals. He also conceded a penalty throughout the game.
With negotiations with Real Madrid practically complete, Milan’s focus will be to finalise the contract with Jimenez before announcing the deal.
They intend to summon the Spaniard’s agents to the club shortly and strike an agreement on personal matters. This will most certainly result in him receiving an official promotion, or at least a promise of one within the next year or two.
Madrid, meanwhile, pocketed €5 million, which can be used to replace Daniel Carvajal next season. Each dime counts.
