Newcastle United Set For £60m Fresh Hot Deal

Newcastle United fans got excited recently when it was reported that the club had joined the race for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old had a fantastic season alongside Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace last season and has since sparked attention from a number of elite clubs.

It was believed that Olise’s contract included a £60 million release clause, but Newcastle’s offer for that sum was surprising given how much talk of FFP/PSR had dominated the transfer market.

Furthermore, it was claimed that the release clause only applied to clubs competing in the Champions League, which looked strange given that Chelsea were said to be front runners for Olise’s signature and will not be playing Champions League football next season.

Journalist Matt Law isn’t convinced there is a release clause in Olise’s contract

However, Telegraph journalist Matt Law has been speaking about the Michael Olise problem on the London is Blue podcast (via The Chronicle), and he feels there may be no clause at all, and Newcastle is one of the clubs allowed permission to speak with Olise.

“If you speak to folks at the Palace end, you’ll hear a lot about a supposed buy-out clause worth up to £60 million.

“And it has been suggested that it may only be relevant to Champions League clubs. We spoke with Chelsea officials, and they are very clear that it is not simply relevant to Champions League clubs, and that there may not even be a genuine provision.

“So I’m very suspicious of clause discussion, but there appears to be a deal that can be reached for him. As I mentioned, those three clubs [Chelsea, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich] have permission to speak with him.”

Things are starting to heat up for Newcastle this summer

It appears like Newcastle are in the running for Michael Olise, but with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also interested, Newcastle will need to have their sales pitch spot on.

We suspect that this will be fixed very soon, so keep a watch on it over the next few weeks.

Things are obviously heating up in terms of Newcastle’s transfer activity.
