Newcastle United are exploring a loan-to-buy deal for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.
As previously reported this summer, the 22-year-old is on the club’s list of right-winger prospects, with an improvement on Miguel Almiron seen as a high priority with the purchase of a right-footed centre-back.
Newcastle are now negotiating a deal for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, but it is widely assumed that the England international will fetch a club record fee, leaving limited finances available to acquire a right-sided forward.
With that potential dilemma in mind, Newcastle are said to have considered an original loan agreement for Madueke, which included an obligation to sign the former PSV star on a permanent basis last summer.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will consider such a deal, but a similar agreement was reached last summer to secure the acquisition of Lewis Hall. Not only that, but Chelsea are reportedly close to signing Wolves winger Pedro Neto for £60 million, which might decrease Madueke’s minutes despite a good pre-season.
Madueke competed at last summer’s European Championships at U21 level alongside Anthony Gordon and secured a place in Chelsea’s squad for the final few months of the 2023/24 season. However, it is unclear whether he is part of new manager Enzo Maresca’s long-term plans following Mauricio Pochettino’s unexpected departure at the end of May.

The 24-year-old winger checks numerous boxes as a tall, powerful, and hard-working player with mobility and a strong left foot. He’s a nice age – Newcastle is actively aiming to reduce the average age of their existing squad – and he knows Alexander Isak from their time together in Sweden.
He would not come cheap, and his superb pre-season will further enhance Spurs’ reluctance to sell, however a £57 million move for Dominic Solanke could change their mind from a PSR standpoint.
If Newcastle receives indications that a deal with Paul Mitchell’s former club is feasible, player sales may be required to acquire the Tottenham attacker alongside top centre-back target Marc Guehi.
Decisions must be made on the future of Kieran Trippier, Sean Longstaff, and Callum Wilson, who are all out of contract next summer, and Miguel Almiron should be moved on if a new right-winger arrives, with fringe players such as Martin Dubravka, Matt Targett, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden, and Jamal Lewis all free to leave.
