BREAKING: Newcastle United Open Talks with £12.8m Worth Player

The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as the Magpies are linked with moves for two wingers.

According to sources, Newcastle United are in negotiations with Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga about a prospective transfer.

When discussing the transaction that brought Magpies academy product Elliot Anderson to the City Ground, the Magpies reportedly queried about a potential move for the former Manchester United teenager. However, Forest refused to trade the Sweden international, and United instead signed Greek keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as both teams struggled to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Newcastle United are still looking to strengthen their squad before the summer transfer window closes, and they are in negotiations with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace about a possible club record deal for England centre-back Marc Guehi. With the recruitment of a winger also on the table, Magpies manager Eddie Howe gave little away when questioned about any potential new signings following Saturday’s victory over Ligue 1 outfit Brest.

He stated: “We expect to be active and add at least one player to the group. Let us wait and see. For us, it needs to be about quality rather than quantity since we already have such a good roster that if we add players, they must push the team to new heights. So that is what we are seeking for, which is quite tough to locate. There are few players who will help us improve. You have to be cool. Other emotions, in my opinion, are pointless. We’ll do our best to make the proper decisions given the circumstances. This year, the window has been slightly slower. It appears to be picking up presently.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle still considers Elanga a viable option for improving their options on the right side of their attack, and sees the Forest star as a less expensive alternative to an ambitious move for West Ham United’s England international Jarrod Bowen.

Magpies launch ‘shock bid’ for Premier League winner

Nottingham Forest star Elanga is not the only winger linked with a move to St James Park this weekend, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Magpies are stepping up their interest in Barcelona’s Ferran Torres.

The former Valencia player has already experienced success in the Premier League, winning the league title and the Carabao Cup during his 15-month spell at the Eithad Stadium. However, after trying to establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven, the Spain international transferred to Barcelona for an estimated £47 million during the January 2022 transfer window. Torres has 25 goals and 113 appearances for the Catalan giants, and he was a member of the team that won La Liga in 2022/23.
