Joelinton’s partner has shared a video clip of the Newcastle United player back in the gym, actively engaged in rehabilitation. A recent update reveals that Joelinton is already back in the gym following thigh surgery he underwent last month.
The Brazilian forward sustained the injury during Newcastle’s FA Cup victory over Sunderland, initially anticipated to sideline him for a minimum of six weeks. However, after undergoing surgery, it’s now expected that the 27-year-old will be out for around four months, putting his return this season in question. Thays Gondim, Joelinton’s long-term partner, provided the update to United fans by sharing a video of him working on rebuilding his strength in the gym via her Instagram story. The clip shows the pair exercising together, with Joelinton using the leg curl machine.
With his rehabilitation in progress, there’s hope that Joelinton could regain full fitness ahead of Newcastle’s final match of the season against Brentford on May 19th. Despite this positive development, manager Eddie Howe recently acknowledged the possibility of Joelinton being sold during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Adding to the uncertainty surrounding Joelinton’s future is the fact that he will have only 12 months remaining on his contract once he returns to full fitness. Talks have been held regarding a new deal, but both parties are yet to reach an agreement. When asked about any updates on Friday, Howe simply responded with a “No.”
Since joining Newcastle from Hoffenheim for a then club-record fee of £40 million in 2019, Joelinton has scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 180 appearances. He also made his debut for the Brazil national team last year.
